Free support for social housing tenants.

The Tenants’ Voice helps social housing tenants understand their rights, speak up with confidence and drive better services across the sector.

Why social housing tenants need better support

Raising a housing issue is not always straightforward. Tenants may be unsure of their rights, unclear about what information to include, or lack confidence when contacting their landlord. For some people, literacy, language, digital access or previous poor experiences can make this even harder and their voices go unheard.

When communication breaks down, issues can be delayed, complaints can escalate and tenants have poor experiences.

The Tenants’ Voice aims to make this easier by giving tenants clear, practical support when they need it.

How The Tenants’ Voice supports tenants

The Tenants’ Voice is a free, tenant-led digital platform helping social housing tenants understand their rights, communicate clearly with landlords and resolve issues with greater efficiency and confidence.

Developed with tenants, researchers and sector partners, it will support thousands of residents while generating insight to strengthen resident influence, voice and improve social housing services.

The Tenants’ Voice will aim to help at least 10,000 tenants in the first 12 months to:

  • Understand their rights in relation to a housing issue
  • Get clear guidance on what to do next
  • Prepare clearer letters, emails or call prompts
  • Communicate with more confidence
  • Keep a stronger record of the steps they have taken
  • Increase the levels of influence they have over the services they receive

The platform is designed to support tenants while also helping landlords receive clearer information, respond more effectively and build better relationships with tenants.

Your success in receiving grant funding reflects the strength of your ideas, the credibility of your teams, your dedication to prioritising residents’ views through collaborative efforts with them to create your bids and the confidence I have in your ability to deliver change where it’s most needed.

  • For funders, policymakers and sector partners

It offers a practical innovation that can strengthen resident voice and generate useful insight into the issues tenants face.

The ambition is to create a tool that supports individual tenants while also helping the wider sector learn, improve and deliver better outcomes for their tenants.
